Indulgence lives in the details

A fruit tart is discovered as a whole, then through the contrasts between cream and fruit. A cake also tells its story through piping, contours or a drizzle of chocolate. For Graine de Vanille, the series brings these different distances into conversation.

Fruit, chocolate and hands give the series its rhythm. Discover how to photograph a fruit tart and organise a reportage on a pastry chef’s craft.

The images put the creations first, with framing that makes their textures readable. Hands bring another rhythm: the cake is prepared, presented, shared. Photography connects the product to a gesture and the desire to taste it.

A closer look at indulgence

From fruit to cream, down to the last drizzle of chocolate. Three ways to tell a delicious story.

01 / GRAINE DE VANILLE, THE FRUIT

Fruit. Without restraint

Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and generous cream. An image so fresh you can almost taste it, inviting you to share that first slice.

Indulgence, in full.

02 / GRAINE DE VANILLE, THE SOFTNESS

A little sweetness

The texture of the cream, the pattern of the piping, the detail of the pecans. Getting closer to show what makes you want a taste.

Details have flavour.

03 / GRAINE DE VANILLE, THE CHOCOLATE

Just a little more

Chocolate pouring, hazelnuts and hands gathered around the cake. Capturing the moment when all you can think about is a bite.

There is always room.

From fruit to the final touch of chocolate

Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries create a generous opening scene. Moving closer, the eye discovers cream, piped patterns and pecans. Then flowing chocolate and hands around the cake bring action into the series.

I look for a clear reading of these textures, choosing what should draw the eye in each photograph. The soft tones and coordinated backgrounds of the diptych accompany the images while letting the pastries take their place.

Show a creation, tell a collection’s story

Alternating wider views and details lets the series unfold like a collection. One image presents a cake, another lingers on its texture, a third shows a gesture. This variety can support product presentations or regular communication, according to the uses agreed for the assignment.
